1. What is the Access Undertaking?

The Access Undertaking sets out the processes to be followed and the basic terms and conditions under which access to QR's rail infrastructure are negotiated between QR and access seekers.
QR's current Undertaking was approved by the Queensland Competition Authority in June 2006 and became operational in July 2006.


2. How do I apply for access to QR's network?

Rail operators and other access seekers interested in using the QR network must negotiate most aspects of their proposed operations through Network Access. The process for access to QR's network is detailed in the diagram below.




3. What does Network Access provide?

Network Access provides a set of bundled services that includes:
  • Rail access
  • Terminal access
  • Access services relating to major yards, rail corridors and our telecommunications network
  • Asset management
  • Asset maintenance and development
  • Rail capacity management
  • Train planning and network control
  • Emergency response
  • Incident management and investigation
