Network Access can set different access charges for train services in different markets. For example, an access charge on a coal line may be different to that on a passenger line.

Access charges
While access charges vary depending on the operations, there is a set price for a nominated haul on those sections of the network that are more likely to attract competition. The set price is called a ‘reference tariff’.
Reference tariffs for the narrow gauge network are developed with industry and approved by the Queensland Competition Authority. They provide rail operators with certainty about the costs involved on specific lines.
Access charges for some of the infrastructure in Queensland are separated into Clusters, which are sections of QR infrastructure directly connecting certain specified loading and unloading facilities, generally in the coal networks.
Tariffs for freight, passengers and other commodities that are not listed are available by contacting the respective representative in the Contact Us section.
