Interface considerations

Before access is approved, Network Access carefully considers the way a rail operator proposes to interface with the QR network, especially any risk involved.

Interface Risk Management Process

As railway manager, QR is responsible for ensuring that the interface risks associated with the operation of train services on QR’s network are appropriately managed. This includes:

The Interface Risk Assessment
The access seeker and Network Access jointly carry out a comprehensive risk assessment of the proposed operations.

The Interface Risk Management Plan
Once the risks are assessed, an agreed Interface Risk Management Plan is prepared. The Plan addresses all risks and outlines issues such as safeworking procedures, safety standards and the control measures to be managed by each party.
